Illustration: Lionel Richie

I was approached to do an Illustration for an event at a local coffee shop called Southern Revelry on July 27th, 2013. This is one of the first illustrations that I have done that will be presented at an art exhibit. I did take an illustration class while in college but I haven’t done a simply artistic illustration since. Everything I had done before was strictly for some form of advertisement.

Though my design is a little different than what most of the other illustrators will be providing I am quite proud of it. Most of the others are submitting a more realistic portrait while mine is a bit more abstract. I really liked the line from Lionel’s song “Hello” that says “Hello, is it me you’re looking for?”. I thought of it as trying to recall someone who you don’t really remember the exact features of their face but just the general idea. More of a search for a person than knowing who you are looking for. I don’t know, it’s a little weird but I think it’s cool. If you like the illustration and want to see it in action join us at Southern Revelry July 27th. Smaller prints will be available for purchase but I have no idea how much they will be.
